Jay Hugh Jolly Funeral service for Jay Hugh Jolly will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mark Vincent and Reverend John Sadler officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Jolly, 81, of the Russell Community passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2013 at Rush Foundation Hospital. Mr. Jolly grew up in Richton, Mississippi where he graduated from Richton High School. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the Army where he served three years including twenty-eight months in Germany. He then enlisted in the National Guard and retired with over thirty-five years of military service. He met and married his wife in 1960. He served as deacon at Northview Assembly of God for many years; where he sang in the choir and was in the Men's Quartet. Mr. Jolly was actively involved with the youth group. He later attended Northside Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Jolly was a member of the Russell Community Club and Tour-N-Tell Camping Club. He was an avid gardener, and fisherman. He loved to cook and was a handy man that could fix anything. He was a doting grandfather who loved taking his grandchildren fishing. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four and a half years, Gloria Walton Jolly of Russell; children, Angie Rhodes and husband Art of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ken Jolly of Orlando, Florida, Karla Renee Jolly Butler and husband, Mike of Newton County, Mississippi; grandchildren, Taylor Rhodes, Katelyn Rhodes, Alex Crenshaw, Jayden, Karmyn, Rivers Butler; sisters, Mary Alice Jolly of Richton, Mississippi; brother, Pete Jolly Richton, Mississippi; sister, Sarah Jolly Lowry of Long Beach, Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervie Lee Jolly and Wilma Sharp Jolly and brother, Tommie Lee Jolly. Pallbearers will be Donald Jackson, Donald Jones, James Booth, Gerald Goodin, Micky McMahan and Randy Rushing. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at robertbarhamffh.com. Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
