Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Mitcham Gentry will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Meridian Memorial Park. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Gentry, age 90, of Meridian passed away August 15, 2018 in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Mrs. Gentry was a member of Oakland Heights (now Oak Hill) Baptist Church for sixty-six years. She retired from the Mississippi Department of Health. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters, Gaylen (Steve) Richardson and Robin (Buddy) Petty; son, Jim (Linda) Gentry; son-in-law, Bruce Wall; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Emmett (LoRita) Mitcham.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Gentry; her daughter, Jill G. Wall; her grandson, Michael Richardson; her parents, Emmett C. Mitcham, Sr. and Sadie Purvis Mitcham; and her sisters, Maxine M. Smith, Annell M. Ward, and Marlene M. Smith.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bryan Wall, Patrick Wall, Gunnar Gentry, Jay Gentry, Collin Gentry, and Mitch Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Wall and Grant Threatt.

The family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
