Jean R. Whaley-Sanchez Services for Jean R. Whaley-Sanchez will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ronnie Adams officiating. Burial will be in Manassa Methodist Church Cemetery in Clarke County with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Whaley-Sanchez, 86, of Meridian died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Bedford Care Center. Mrs. Sanchez began her career in downtown Meridian at J. C. Penney's and also worked as a children's buyer at Marks Rothenburg. She continued her career working also with the Lerner Shop, Mangel's and Bonnie Jeans. In the early 70's Mrs. Sanchez hosted the first NAACP fashion show at Mangel's. She also held other fashion shows at Marks Rothenburg and Mangel's. Jean hosted live car shows on WTOK and modeled for the Meridian Camera Club in the 50's and 60's. Survivors include her daughters Vivi Anne Davis of Meridian and Jean Marie Whaley of Hattiesburg; grandchildren Patrick William Davis and wife Rhonda, Kelly Ann Evans and her husband Sam, Shawn Elizabeth Smith and husband Johnny; great-grandchildren Shae Spencer, John Smith, Kaitlin Smith, Dylan Davis and Conner Williams; great-great-granddaughter Addison Paige Spencer. And Jean's faithful dog Grits. She was preceded in death by her son Phillip J. Whaley and son-in-law W01 William R. Davis, Jr., U.S. Army. Pallbearers will be John Smith, Dylan Davis, Johnny Smith, Christopher Hamrick, Sam Evans and Gary Ishee.
