Jearold Wayne Shelton

Funeral services for Mr. Jearold Wayne Shelton will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Jackson and Rev. Joey Shelton officiating. Interment will follow at MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. The family will receive guests from 10:00 - 10:45 at the funeral home prior to services. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Shelton, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at his home in Meridian, MS. 

Jearold was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany. In 2010, he retired from the Lauderdale County School District Maintenance Department with 36 years of faithful service.

He loved working in his woodshop, in his garden, on his goat farm, and any activity involving the outdoors. He was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church, in Kewanee, MS.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his stepchildren, Pamela Wilson (Ron), Carl Murray Jr. and Tim Murray (Sonja); grandchildren, Laura Leonard (Kenneth), Jennifer Wilson, and Emily Grace Murray; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Cooper Leonard; brother, Jimmy Shelton (Amanda); sister, Mary McLemore (Danny); brother-in-law, Henry E. Yeager; special cousin, Joe Shelton (Clara); special nephew, Henry P. Yeager (Gina); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Shelton; parents, Isaac and Amelia Shelton; sisters, Alma Shelton and Juanita "Nita" Yeager; brother, James "Bud" Shelton.

Pallbearers will be Henry P. Yeager, Walter McLelland, Kenny McLelland, Kenny Barnard, Kenneth Leonard, and Kurt "Rabbit" Schroeder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Shelton, Wayne Shelton, Henry E. Yeager, and Lindsey Keene.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to Salem Baptist Church.
