A funeral service for Jeffrey Scott Shirley will be held at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Scott Crenshaw officiating. The burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Jeff passed away Thursday, December 05, 2024, at Baptist Anderson Regional Hospital.
Jeff was born January 2nd, 1969, to Perry and Becky Shirley of Meridian MS. He graduated from Meridian High School in 1987 and joined the Army National Guard in 1989 with the 786th Transportation Unit in Quitman, MS.
He was a Veteran and served his country in 1991 with his guard unit in the 1st Gulf War Operation Desert Storm. After his return from Desert Storm, he married the love of his life Dawn Doerner Shirley and they were blessed with two sons Cody and Dylan. Jeff worked offshore with Rowan Companies and worked in Saudi Arabia, North Sea, Trinidad, Suriname and the Gulf of Mexico. Jeff loved his family, friends, and enjoyed cooking out for them. He loved fishing and dirt track racing and helped his longtime friends Rodney and Cassie Wing at Whynot Motorsports Park for many years.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dawn Doerner Shirley; his children, Cody Shirley (Kennedy) Dylan Shirley (Shaina) and 3 grandchildren, Iris and Meredith Shirley and Paxton McCord; brother Jason Lee Shirley of Florida.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Perry and Becky Shirley, grandparents Martin and Janelle Shirley and A.C and Lorene Edwards of Meridian, MS
His family would like to thank Dr. Caleb Dulaney and his staff at Baptist Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Lisa Bond and her staff at South Central Cancer Center of Laurel, and Baptist Anderson ICU for all their help and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Baptist Anderson Cancer Center Benevolent Fund.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Wing, Rob Mosley, Ryan Mosley, Dwight Vaughn, Mike Hudler, Steven Shirley, Jimmy Stockton and Jeffery Walker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Harrison, Bill Moffett, Randy Shirley, Paul Mosley, Casey Haney, Keath Bowles, and Jim Miles.
