Jerry L. Hooks Funeral services for Jerry L. Hooks will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Leon Ballard officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. On Saturday, June 13, 2015 another servant of God's has left this world to live peacefully with his Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry Hooks has lived a rich and full life. He loved his God, family, church, and his youth. He left a strong legacy of faith and unconditional love to his son, Chris. He was born in Meridian on November 23, 1947 and spent his last days surrounded by his family and friends. Jerry started his ministry at Salem Baptist Church, Arrowood, Hebron, Lauderdale, Northcrest, Dekalb, State Boulevard, Calvary in Butler, Pine Forest, and York Baptist Church. Jerry played in a gospel band for 13 years, traveling in Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. He used his talents to serve the Lord as a Minister of Music, and Minister of Youth. He loved all sports, but golf was his favorite. Those blessed to know Jerry remember him as courageous, energetic, determined, happy, talented, young at heart, loving all people. He was a bold witness for Jesus always sharing his favorite passage, Psalm 30. He is survived by the love of his life, Brenda Wright Hooks, for 46 ½ years; son, Chris Hooks; special dog, Misti Rain; and niece, Judy Griffin.
