Mr. Taylor, 81, of Meridian, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Taylor gave his life to Christ when he was 16 years old. He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church. Previously, he was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he actively served as a deacon for over 40 years. He was a strong godly man, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was bold in his faith and wanted to make sure everyone he came in contact with knew the Lord as their personal Savior.
Mr. Taylor worked as shipping foreman at Georgia Pacific where he retired after 32 years of service. He was an avid sportsman who loved deer and turkey hunting. He killed over 200 bucks and 279 turkeys. He passed his love for hunting on to his grandson, Bryce. He also loved baseball and was a huge Yankee fan. He coached many youth baseball teams. He enjoyed working with children and teaching them not only the fundamentals of baseball, but also life lessons and the importance of putting Christ first. He will be dearly missed, but he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be in our hearts. II Timothy 4:6-8 “6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
