Jessie Gordon "J.G." Kent Services for Jessie Gordon "J.G." Kent will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:30 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Larry Hilliard and Reverend John Koch officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Kent, 74, of Collinsville died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Kent served five years in the U.S. Navy. He started his railroad career in 1960 with GM&O Railroad where he worked for 40 years, ending his career with the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Mr. Kent was an active member of Poplar Springs UMC. He was also a member of the National Watch and Clock Collectors Association. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Bessie Holcombe Kent of Collinsville; daughters, Lexa Kent Karas of Meridian, Becky Kent Ross and her husband Greg of Brandon, MS, Gena Kent Collum and her husband Roy of Brandon MS; four granddaughters, Courtney Ross, Mathers Ross, Sydney Collum and Addison Collum who were his pride and joy; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Doris Kent; father, Oscar Kent; step-mother, Nina Kent; and sister, Martha Koch. The family requests memorials be made to Poplar Springs Drive UMC or the charity of choice. Honorary pallbearers are the St. Andrews Sunday School Class.
