Jessie Mae Slayton Services for Jessie Mae Slayton will be held Monday, January 31, 2011, at 11:30a.m., at the Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Carl White officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Slayton, age 84, of Meridian, died Saturday, January 29, 2011, at her residence. She was a retired restaurant owner. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Special thanks to Hospice Care Group Nurses, J.C. and Christy, Jeff Anderson Medical Center, Dr. Ivy, and Dr. Alexander. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 79. She was also a member of Highland Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Marie Anderson and her husband Terk, of Mitchell, Indiana, a son, James Aubery Slayton and his wife Tammy, of Meridian, a brother, George Millord Church and his wife Ruth, of Meridian, a brother in-law, James E. Slayton and his wife Dot, of Meridian, a sister in-law, Beatrice Elmore, of Pascagoula, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Aubery Slayton, an infant son, William A. Slayton, Jr., a daughter, Charlotte Diane Slayton Brewer, two sons, Billy Ray Slayton and Jerry Mack Slayton, her parents, George W. Church, and Maggie Marie Church, two brothers, William S. Church and Doris B. Church, three sisters, Odessa Bond, Ursula Church, Daphna Elder, a grand daughter, Shannon Renae Haralson, and a grandson, James Dean Slayton. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 30, 2011, from 5:00-8:00p.m., and Monday from 10:00a.m., until the time of the service, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
