Jewel Christine Kirksey

Graveside services for Ms. Jewel C. Kirksey will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Reverend Robert “Bob” Followell will officiate the service. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ms. Kirksey, age 90, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 19 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.

Jewel received her nursing degree from Matty Hersee School of Nursing. She continued her nursing career in the operating room at Anderson Regional Medical Center. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed traveling, sharing many trips with her family at Disney World. She loved Elvis, cooking, and her Calvary Baptist Church family. Most of all, she loved her family.

She is survived by a sister, Marie Pace (Gerald); nieces, Cindy Daugherty (Daryl) and Beth Shannon (Jason); great nephews, Matt Daugherty (Hope) and Brett Daugherty (Capri); great nieces, Allison Shannon and Taylor Shannon; and one great-great nephew, Davis Daugherty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edison and Fannie Kirksey and one brother, David Kirksey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to East Mississippi Animal Rescue.
