Funeral services for Jewell Harden will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, with Dr. John Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Harden, 93, passed away Saturday, August 20, at Specialty Hospital.
Mrs. Harden was a native of Alabama, but spent the majority of her life in Mississippi. She was a dedicated Christian who taught the Esther S.S. Class at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church for many years. She was a prayer warrior for many family and friends and enjoyed sending cards and notes of encouragement. Jewell also enjoyed spending time with her cat, “Sweetie Pie”.
Mrs. Harden was a loving and devoted mother to her son, Doug, of Meridian, and daughter, Beverly (Rice) Maddox, of Magee. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shelba (John) Rowe, of Demopolis, Alabama and Jarrod (Tesa) Harden of Bismark, North Dakota, and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Aaron, Annie, Aric, and Asa Rowe, and Torn, Jasirah, and Tallyn Harden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Rev. M.J. Harden; parents, Horace and Annie Burnham; sister, Estelle B. Vestgard, and brother, Pat Burnham.

The family would live to give special thanks to her caregivers of the last few years, Betty Hall and Mechelle “Meme” Walker, for their loving care.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons from Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, The Gideons, American Cancer Society, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home.
