Funeral services for Jimmie Cessna will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Mike Russell officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Cessna, age 63, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Anderson Regional Health System.
He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Jimmie loved sports. He was a high school football referee for 25 years. He umpired softball on the recreational, high school, and collegiate levels for more than 30 years where he was awarded official of the year and worked many national tournaments. He was also a basketball official for many years. He loved his family, friends, the Crimson Tide, music, and golf. He recently retired and works part time at Lakeview Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kay Cessna; daughter, Shea Cessna; mother, Carleen Stevens Maseda; sister, Florence Wright (Vince); brother, Floyd Maseda (Tammy); sister-in-law, Claudia Tatum; numerous nieces, nephews, and a great niece.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Florence Cross Stevens. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Smith, Dave Holloway, Joel Speed, James Norris Neely, Jerry Stewart, and Terry Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Robison, Charlie Tyner, and fellow softball, football, and basketball officials.
