Services for Jimmy Reece will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Reece, age 78, of Meridian, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Anderson Hospital. Jimmy Roland Reece was born June 2, 1935 to Walter and Inez Reece. He served 22 ½ years in the U.S. Navy where he retired as Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Reece was involved in several veteran's organizations. He served as State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and several years as the state adjutant. He was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church and a member of Saints John Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janett Berwick Reece; daughters, Sherry Bateman (Norman) of Meridian, Susan Puckett (Clark) of Meridian,and Peggy Hayes (Leo) of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Michael Reece (Debbie) of Tacoma, WA; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, J.L. "Bo" Reece, Ronnie Reece, and Robby Reece; two sisters, Louise Thomas and Dorla Jarman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Christine Flowers and Ruth Miller; and brother, Dennis Reece. The family has requested memorials be made to Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at robertbarhamffh.com.
