A Graveside funeral service for Joan Louise McNeely will be held Monday, February 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. McNeely, 99, of Meridian, died peacefully Thursday, February 22, surrounded by family. She was a native of Jameson, Missouri, and formerly lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Meridian. While living in Meridian, Mrs. McNeely attended Highland Baptist Church and Popular Springs Baptist Church. During the early and mid-1980s, she and her husband Chet were part of the local business community as owners of the Trailways Bus Station in downtown Meridian.
Mrs. McNeely leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Doolin (Terry, deceased); five grandchildren, Todd Doolin (Amy), Heather Whitehead (Peter, deceased), John Few (Lori) and Wendy Cortes (Jon); twelve great-grandchildren, Amy Few, Susan Few, Madison Few, Kaitlyn Knuth, Kathryn Knuth, Tim Doolin, Jr (Elizabeth), Megan Doolin, Connor Doolin, Ryan Doolin, Caleb Whitehead, Avery Whitehead, and Abbi Grace Whitehead; a great-great-grandson, Arden; and several nephews and nieces.
Mrs. McNeely was preceded in death by her loving husband Chester Dale McNeely, daughter Susan Roddy (Dave), grandson Tim Doolin, son-in-law Terry Doolin, father Tom Maharg, her mother Crystal Maharg; and three siblings.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. February 26, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian, Mississippi.
