JoAnn Poole Coate Services for JoAnn Poole Coate will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Clarence Tilghman officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ms. Coate, age 77, of Meridian, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. After raising a family, she went to Meridian Community College and graduated from the nursing program at age 50. She worked as a nurse on the pediatric wing at Rush Hospital for 20 years. She dedicated her life to serving others through her love for Jesus by sharing his love through her baking and giving to others. Survivors include her children, Debra Leavy and husband, Gary; Shelby Beard Jr. and wife, June; Lori Chatham and husband, Aubrey; grandchildren, Nichole Dupre and husband, Ruben; Alora Leavy; Margo Leavy; Courtney Beard; Zach Beard; Emily Beard; Mary Beard; Sophia Black; Anthony Gewin and wife, Amy; Stephen Skinner; Reba Currie and husband, J.D.; Nathan Beard; Sarah Evans and husband, Tyler; Jacob Ramage; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Herbert Poole; Linda McLeod; Juanita Sieberling; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Herbert Poole and Martha Poole; daughter, Nelda Skinner; son, Norman Beard; great grandson, Ethan Skinner; siblings, William (Billy) Poole, Francis (Bubba) Poole, Johnny Poole, Leonard (Shorty) Poole, Tommy Poole, Dorothy Lowe, Louise Wicker, and J'nell Ross.
