Joey Coxwell

Funeral services for Joey will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 2pm at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Sahler and Dr. Chuck Meador officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Joe. T. "Joey" Coxwell, age 62, of Meridian, MS, passed away July 6, 2019, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Joey was born in Anniston, AL, and was raised in Jackson, AL. He graduated high school at Jackson Academy. Joey went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Composite Science Education and Master of Arts in Teaching: Science from University of West Alabama (Livingston, AL), and a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts Education from St. John's College (Santa Fe, NM). Joey's great passion in life was teaching science to high school students, which he did for 38 years.

Joey leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Patti, and his beloved daughter, Joanna, of Meridian, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews, including niece Gina (Larry) Powell, of Jackson, AL.

Joey is preceded in death by his father, Joe Clarence Coxwell; his mother, Bertha Atchison Coxwell; his sister, Jan Coxwell Morgan; and his niece Leah Everette.

The Coxwell family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Northeast High School Science Department or Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church Youth.
