John E. Ethridge, Sr. Services for John E. Ethridge, Sr. will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverends Jack Kern and Michael Yancey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Ethridge, 76, of Meridian died Thursday, February 6, 2014, at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served for eight years. He was also with the Meridian Police Department and the Lauderdale County Sheriff Department. Mr. Ethridge retired from the Department of Transportation after eighteen years of service. He also worked as Master Sgt. for eight years with Rush Hospital Security. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Letitia Ann Ethridge of Meridian; daughter, Beverly Haskins and husband Michael of Meridian; son, John Ethridge, Jr. and wife Brenda of Meridian; daughter, Amanda Graham of Meridian; daughter, Sheila Carpenter and husband Stephen of Toomsuba; grandchildren, Tommy Ethridge, John Ethridge, III, Sierra Haskins, Chase Haskins, Dustin Graham; step-grandchildren, Billy Watkins and Tonya Orr; great-grandchildren, Chloe Orr, Taylor Watkins, Megan Richardson and Ember Richardson; brothers, Andrew M. Ethridge and wife Ann, Louis Ethridge, Billy Ray Ethridge and wife Joyce all of Meridian and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Ethridge; sister, Jane Yancey; brother, George Ethridge and Roy Ethridge. Pallbearers will be the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
