John Edward Graupman, Jr. Services for John Edward Graupman, Jr., will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father Francis Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Graupman, 59, of Meridian died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at UAB. John was born in North Tonawanda, New York. Although John was born in the north, he was the epitome of a southern gentleman. He served in the United States Marine Corp and earned his BSBA from the University of Redlands. Mr. Graupman was an independent computer consultant in Southern California for twenty years. After much contemplation of where the best place to raise his young children, he moved his family in 2004 to Meridian. John's love of his family and his church kept him motivated during his long bout with cancer and his liver disease. He spent many volunteer hours with the Knights of Columbus and was a Cub Scout leader for many years. His favorite past time was researching family history as well as taking care of a host of dogs, cats and horses. He will be greatly missed by many!!! Survivors include his wife Sherry Graupman of Meridian; his children Jenna and John Graupman; brothers and sisters Evelyn Moskaluk of Seattle, Washington, Cheryle and Tom Godleske of Buffalo, New York, Joan Rosas of Fairbanks Alaska, James and Stephanie Graupman of Woodbridge, Virginia; brothers and sisters- in-laws Lynn and Joel Payne of Meridian, Jerry and Margaret Peacock and Billy Peacock; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marion Graupman.
