John William Mathews

Mr. John W. Mathews, age 96, of Meridian passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at his home.

John attended the submarine school in New London, CT, also the Naval Academy Prep School Camp in Virginia. Served on the USS Paddle SS-263 submarine. He graduated from Harvard University class of 1949. He was former retired President of Meridian Machine Works, Inc.

Survivors includes wife of 73 years, Jeanne Mathews, children, John W. Mathews, Jr., Karen Rea (Bob), Geoffrey Mathews (Cathy), and Brett Mathews (Louise); grandchildren, Jonathan Mathews, Leslie Bunker (Jason), Brandi Pelfree (Roger), and Merry Jo Rea, 4 great-grandchildren, Jackson, Amelia, Bennett, and Charlotte Pelfree.
