John Bryan McAlister Services for John Bryan McAlister will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Leon Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Suqualena Cemetery. Mr. McAlister, 65, of Collinsville passed away on July 30, 2014, at the University of Arkansas For Medical Sciences. Mr. McAlister retired as a Lieutenant from the Meridian Police Department after thirty-one years and he was a graduate of the FBI Academy. During his service he was awarded Policeman of the Year in 1982. He retired after forty-two years of service as a Sr. Master Sergeant with the Mississippi Air National Guard. John also retired after ten years of service of Chief of Police at Mississippi State University Meridian Campus. He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Wanda McAlister of Collinsville; son, John Bryan McAlister, II and wife, Danielle of Collinsville; daughter, Whitney McAlister Fuller and husband, Cody of Marion; grandchildren, Miles Christian McAlister , Caleb Brant McAlister and Brynlee Glo McAlister; sister, Sandra McAlister Brennan of Spring Lake, New Jersey; brother-in-law Willie Hudnell of Meridian; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, Christine Brennan Kolodziejski, and children, Ivan, Alex and Henry Kolodziejski of Spring Lake, New Jersey, Timothy Brennan and wife, Monica of West New York, New Jersey, Hollee Hudnell Lyn and husband, Lee of Dothan, Alabama, Michael Hudnell and wife, Mandy and children, Kimmy, Abby, and Elijah of Meridian, Jason Hudnell and wife, Leila of Meridian and Alisha Hudnell of Meridian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryan Leslie "Butch" and Ruth Annell Shepard McAlister and sister, Helen McAlister Hudnell. The family requests memorials be made to the Meridian Police Benevolence Association, P. O. Box 867, Meridian, MS 39301 Pallbearers will be Dr. Richie McAlister, Ricky Roberts, Buck Roberts, Chuck Roberts, Bill Pace, Casey Stockman, Richie McAlister, III, Rusty McAlister, Thomas "T" May and Bobby Beddingfield.
