A memorial service for John David Wood will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Episcopal Church, with Father Brian Ponder officiating.
Mr. Wood, age 71, of Meridian, passed away June 19, 2016, at his home.
John was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a loving family man who was proud and supportive of his family. John loved animals, especially horses and his cats, Nikki and Paki. John was a member of MENSA, NRA, and read extensively on many subjects. He was also a gifted poet and an avid supporter of University of Alabama sports.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Rita Lum; daughter, Bobbie Norwood and her husband, Bob, of Gadsden, Alabama; siblings, Margaret Fox of N Richland HTS, Texas, Dr. Paul Wood and his wife, Dr. Dene, of Springfield, Missouri, and Farrys Patrick and her husband, Pat, of Lakeland, Florida; sisters-in-law, Gale Wood of Apopka, Florida and Wendy Wood of Pittsford, Vermont; grandchildren, Chris Likosof Guntersville, Alabama, Andrew Likos of Huntsville, Alabama, and Martie Ann Likos of Guntersville, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Tinslee Likos, Lanie Likos, Collins Peacock, and Mason Likos; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Byron and Loudell Wood; brothers, James Wood and Dale Wood.
