Funeral services for Johnnie D. Keel will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Parlor with Dr. Robert Horel officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Keel, age 89, of Lauderdale, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Keel retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked in the NAS Commissary. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Alabama football.

Survivors include his wife Katie Barrett Keel of Lauderdale; brothers Mitford Keel of Mobile, AL.; Herman Keel of Amarillo, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Nettie Keel, sisters, Margaret Armstead, Evelyn DeArmond, and Nora Bell Carpentor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Palmer Home for Children, 912 11th Ave. South, Columbus, MS 39701.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
