Jonathan Bevon Cortes

A graveside service for Jon Cortes will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, 1:00 PM at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS with Rev. David Graham officiating, with burial to follow. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Jon Cortes, age 52, of Newton passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Baptist Anderson Regional Hospital.

Jon had a love for the outdoors which drove him to pursue a career as a Forest Ranger with the Mississippi Forestry Commission. He was an avid University of Miami Hurricanes fan and always cheered for them no matter the score. He was a proud alumnus of Jones County Junior College Maroon Typhoon Marching Band. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Wendy Cortes; children, Kaitlyn Godfrey (Doug), Kathryn Knuth, Faith Allshouse, and Josiah Cortes; siblings, Jessica Smith (Jacob), Karla Smith (Lane), Kammie Carpenter (Kevin), Jennifer Cortes Johnson; mother, Faith Anderson (Randy); numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Carlos L. Cortes; siblings, Randy Anderson, Jr. and Kathleen Cortes.
