Private graveside services for Mr. Joseph Dewayne Baskin will be held at Bucatunna Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Joseph Dewayne Baskin, 46, of Meridian passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Dewayne was born April 9, 1976 in Meridian. His interest in baseball began at an early age as he played catcher for the Long Creek Pee-Wee team and continued to play throughout his life. He also enjoyed cheering on the San Diego Padres. Dewayne and his paternal grandfather, Howard, shared a love for antique vehicles, especially low-riders which Dewayne enjoyed drawing as a teen. He began his career in the early 90s off-shore as a deckhand with Gilbert Cheramie Boats in Louisiana, which ignited his passion for the oil industry. Dewayne continued in the oil industry with various companies and obtained his rigger license in 2022.

Dewayne is survived by his wife, Julie Baskin; his mother, Janet Stewart (Randy); his son, Colby Dewayne Baskin; his sister, Trisi Thomas (Brice); his paternal grandmother, Lula Mae Baskin; and beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph DeLynn Baskin; his maternal grandparents, Luther Boles and Idella Grayson; and his paternal grandfather, Howard Baskin.
