Services for Joe Reid, Sr. will be held Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Claude Fleming and Reverend Joe Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Reid, 96, of Meridian passed away peacefully Friday, December 13, 2013, at his residence. He was a member of Druid Hills United Methodist Church. He previously attended Highland United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Reid served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as Chief of the Aircraft Communication Control at Key Field where he worked for 33 years. He became a "professional student" after retiring and continued to take classes at MCC and MSU Meridian Campus until age 88. He also was an avid runner and active in the Meridian Track Club for years. He is survived by a daughter, Pat Jordan and husband Jerry; and a son, Joe Reid, Jr.; grandchildren Craig Jordan, Shelli Myers, and Kelli Peavy; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Bernice Massey Reid; his parents, three brothers and two sisters. The family requests memorials be made to Druid Hills United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
