July 29, 1960 — July 24, 2024

A celebration of life for Joseph Kevin Nicklas will be held on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Clarko State Park; Pavilion 2. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mr. Joseph Kevin Nicklas, age 63, of Meridian passed away July 24th at his home in Meridian.

He loved fiercely if you were lucky enough to be one he loved. A protector. He loved the Lord and prayed often and fervently for his family. He was an outdoorsman who lived life in the armor of his white t-shirt, blue jeans, and worn-out boots. An artist who could draw beautifully and create a masterpiece from nothing. Fences from unusual sticks that draped around his garden in a magical way. Jewelry for his loved ones from items most would consider junk. He smelled like clothes hung on the line and baked in the sun with remnants of stubble from his morning shave. Feeding you was his love language- fried squirrel, grits and extra butter for everyone but him... breakfast was his specialty. He loved to tell a story that would make you laugh or a tale of him in his youth taking on the world in a grandeur way. He was one of the strongest men we've ever known, overcoming death and tragedy many times. He taught those around him to be strong, resourceful, independent and to love the little things in life. He loved his wife beyond what can be explained and often brought her treasures from nature. His grandchildren were his greatest joy of all- Ilyria, Genevieve, Willow, Dale, Emeris and Bealie.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lydia Seydel Nicklas; children, Charlie Nicklas (Angel) and Rebekah Nicklas Stennett (Glenn Jr.); grandchildren, Ilyria, Genevieve, Willow, and Emeris Nicklas, Glenn "Dale" Stennett III, and Bealie Stennett; mother, Elizabeth Nicklas Williams; siblings, Susan Nicklas Rasmussen, Stan McDonald, Chester Nicklas; with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Melvin (Nick) Nicklas; brothers, Melvin Nicklas Jr., Robert (Bobby) Nicklas; paternal grandparents, Joseph W. Nicklas; Aubie Farrar Butler; maternal grandparents, Chester and Stella McDonald.

Family and Friends will celebrate the life of Joseph with fellowship, food and maybe a little fishing if the weather is right. Casual and comfortable dress.
