Graveside services for Mr. Joseph Algene Price will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Marty Harper officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Joseph Algene Price, age 83, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Algene, or Al as he was lovingly called, was born on May 19, 1935 and grew up in Meridian, MS. He was a self-made businessman, owning Cash Salvage until his retirement. He worked hard his entire life to provide for his family. His wife, P.I., was always a homemaker, raising their four children and grandchildren before she became ill. Algene devoted the last years of his life to his beloved wife’s care, remaining by her side at all times while she battles dementia/Alzheimer’s. His grandchildren carry many wonderful memories of him as he was always the best grandfather. They were truly the apples of his eye.
Mr. Price is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Myrtle “P.I.” Price; his sister in law, Billie Jo Price; children: Joey (Kathleen), Marty (Debbie), Tommy, and Deenie (Ray); grandchildren: Bailey (Ross) Dial, Kristen (Adam) McPherson, Melissa Meadows, Alex (Anna) Meadows, Allison Meadows, and Ashley (Jake) Williamson; great grandchildren, M.E. and Lennon Dial, Riley Haygood, Maggie and Luke McPherson, Carson Crutchfield, and Ava and Addyson Williamson.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Myrtis Blackmon and Joseph William Price, his brother, Billy Ray Price, and his granddaughter, Bethany Lynn Price.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be shared with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
