Joyce R. Hopson Harrison

A funeral service for Joyce R. Harrison will be held Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor James Hopson officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 1:15 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home prior to the service in the chapel. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Joyce Ray Hopson Harrison life began on Saturday January 5th, 1963, to the late Laura Mae Matthews (late Archie B Matthews) and the late Bill T Lard (Elvira Lard).

In September of 1982 she met the love of her life Curtis L Harrison and to their union three children were born, Curtis Chevelle Harrison, Audrea Renee Harrison, and Joshua Lewis Harrison.

Joyce was a member of Tomola Church of God in Lauderdale, MS where Willie J Jefferson is the Pastor until her health failed.

She attended Northeast High School. Once she finished school she began working at Rob Roy in York, AL she then transferred to Maywebb Hosery Mills in Meridian, MS after the company closed, she then started at the Naval Air Station at the Galley. She later started working at Rush Foundation Hospital after her health declined, she moved to Tennessee to be close to her daughter.

Joyce was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend and Grandmother.

She leaves to cherish her husband of 43 years Curtis Lewis Harrison, two sons Curtis Chevelle Harrison and Joshua Lewis Harrison (both of Huntsville, AL). One daughter Audrea Renee Harrison (Martin Onofua) of Smyrna, TN. Ten brothers: Sylvester Hopson (Eileen) of Meridian, MS, James Hopson (Bessie) of Meridian, MS, Archie Matthews Jr (Barbara) of Lauderdale, MS, Terry Lard (Tiffany) of Birmingham, AL, Tyrone Lard (Aretha) of Jenkins, AL, Douglas Scott (Azar) of Huntsville, AL, Edward Lard and Rodney Lard both of Lauderdale, MS, Michael Naylor of York, AL and Ronald Hubbard of Detroit, MI. Five sisters: Jennifer Lowe of Meridian, MS, Brenda Boyd (Casey) of Meridian, MS, Kimberly Scott Granger (Bill) of Ward, AL, Tanesha Lard of Lauderdale, MS, Lucinda Alford of Indiana. She also leaves to cherish her grandchildren: Laurielle Onofua, Omari Onofua of Smyrna, TN, and Adonis Harrison of Huntsville, AL.

She also leaves several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends

She was preceded in death by her parents: Archie Matthews, Sr, Laura Matthews, Bill T Lard. Five Brothers: Randolph Hopson, Michael Matthews, Willie Silliman, Charles Jackson and Bruce Parker. One Sister: Pamela Sturdivant.
