Juanita "Nita" Adcock Services for Juanita "Nita" Adcock will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Adcock of Meridian died Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Rush Hospital. Nita was born in Lincoln County to the late Wilena and George Wactor. After high school she attended Draughon's Business School in Jackson and began work for Travelers Insurance Company as a Screener and Rater in Jackson where she met her future husband Jerry. After her marriage to Jerry Adcock she stayed at home with her children. Jerry's career took the family to Jackson, Brookhaven, Florida, Greenwood and Jerry's hometown, Meridian. Nita loved all the places they lived. Mrs. Adcock was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Museum of Art, Newcomer Club, Greenwood Garden Club and a bridge club. She enjoyed working with the youth in Jacksonville and Pensacola, Florida. Nita was a member of First Baptist Church of Meridian. Survivors include her husband Jerry Adcock, her children Linda Spivey Pillow and husband Bob of Madison, Todd Adcock and wife Jennifer of Brookhaven, Leigh Adcock Pittman of Starkville; grandchildren Mary Todd and Clark Pittman of Starkville, Daniel Spivey and wife Rachel of Jackson, Sam, Robert and Sarah Todd Adcock of Brookhaven; great grandchildren Madeline, Harrison and Carlisle Porter, Lydia and Barnabas Spivey all of Jackson; sisters Jane Scott of Brookhaven, Gloria Alston of McKinney, Texas, and sister-in-law Katherine Wactor of Brookhaven; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother George T. Wactor of Brookhaven. The family requests that memorials be made to Nita's beloved First Baptist Church of Meridian. Pallbearers will be Daniel Spivey, Clark Pittman, Jr., Sam Adcock, Robert Adcock, Bob Pillow, Jr., Rob Pillow, III, Harrison Porter, Carlisle Porter, Barnabas Spivey, Bruce Scott and Gregory Alston.
