November 29, 1945 — November 1, 2024

Funeral services for Mrs. Judith “Judy” Ann McInnis, of Meridian, will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. Marcus Finch and Joey Shelton officiating. A private interment will follow graveside rites in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. McInnis, the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and esteemed professional, passed away peacefully Friday, November 1, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 78 years old.

Born November 29, 1945, in Meridian, Mississippi, Mrs. McInnis grew up with a passion for helping others. She met her husband, William L. McInnis Jr., during high school, and they were married in 1964, sharing 60 extraordinary years.

Her professional career began in 1964 after attending East Mississippi Junior College, where she studied accounting. She joined Mr. Robert Merson’s Southern Electric Supply Company (SESCO) as a payroll clerk. Over the next 40 years, she distinguished herself in the electrical wholesale industry, eventually becoming the Controller for SESCO. After Rexel Electrical Supply purchased SESCO, she continued her career at Rexel and later rejoined Mr. Merson when he launched Sequel Electrical Supply, where she managed state and local sales tax processes for all locations.

Outside of work, Judy was the heart and soul of her family. She was a devoted mother to Bill and Michelle and a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren. She cherished spending time with her family and eagerly anticipated having everyone home for the holidays. A devout Christian, Mrs. McInnis was an active member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as the church Treasurer. She found joy in giving back to her community, whether by preparing meals for the elderly or delivering groceries to those in need. She also loved working in her yard, ensuring her flowers were well taken care of and beautiful each season of the year. Later in life, she took up tennis and enjoyed playing with friends. Her warm personality and generosity touched everyone she met. Even while facing challenges from her cancer diagnosis and treatment, Mrs. McInnis continued to serve her church and the community.

Mrs. McInnis’ legacy is one of compassion, resilience, endless love, immense faith, and a belief in eternal life through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She leaves behind a family that will continue to draw inspiration from her life, values, and her example of living a life centered around Christian principles.

Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, William “Billy Mc” L. McInnis Jr.; her children, William “Bill” L. McInnis III (Amanda) and Michelle Jennings (Hal); grandchildren Marley McInnis, Isabella McInnis, William “Will” L. McInnis IV, John Handy Jennings, and Ann Stuart Jennings; siblings Sherry Smith, Betty Allen (Ben), and Barbara Graham (Glen); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mrs. McInnis is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Doris Harper.

Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Joseph (Bo) McInnis, Glen Wayne McInnis II, Bobby Charles Harper, Jr., Harold Lamar Harper, Kenny Barnard, and Davey Holloman.
