Judy Coursey Crowson Services for Judith Coursey Crowson will be held Monday, January 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bob Rambo officiating. Burial will be North Raleigh Mississippi Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Judy Coursey Crowson, 67, of Meridian died Saturday ,January 5, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Judy grew up in Raleigh, Mississippi, and graduated from Raleigh High School in 1962. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi in 1966 and later was awarded advanced degrees in 1967 and 1985 from Ole Miss. While attending Ole Miss, she was chosen as Miss Ole Miss, elected to the Hall of Fame, served as President of Women Students, and was voted Favorite. She worked in educational positions with the Hinds County School District, Meridian Community College, and the Meridian Public School District. She retired in 2006 after 33 years of full-time work in education but continued part-time as a psychometrist with the Meridian Public School District. Two of Judy's passions were traveling and exercising. She managed to combine the two when she completed a marathon on each continent. She was a wonderful role model to her children, grandchildren and those who knew and loved her. Judy enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross, where she could provide comfort to those in need. "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." Matthew 25:40 Judy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dr. Walter Mack and Ruby Gay Coursey and sisters, Mellie Keiner , Mary Mack Pitts and Nancy Mosal.
She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Crowson Little and her husband Thomas Dale Little Jr. of Oxford, MS; Thomas Dewey Crowson Jr. of Austin, TX; and Anne Crowson Britt and her husband Larry Lee Britt, II MD of Tupelo, MS, and nine grandchildren; Anne Coursey Little, Thomas Dale Little III, and Elizabeth Ellen Little, Ivan Thomas Crowson, Jude Thomas Crowson, Samuel Thomas Crowson, Elizabeth Crymes Britt, Jack Crowson Britt, and Sam Hofer Britt.
