Julia A. McElhenney Services for Julia Ann McElhenney will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derrick Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McElhenney, 52, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a loving mother, wife and sister. Mrs. McElhenney was a cook, farmer, plant worker and retired store keeper. She will miss her pets, Chi Chi, Sassey, Moose and Wee Wee. Survivors include her husband, William McElhenney of Quitman; daughter, Sue Ann Garrett and life partner, Darrell Williams of Quitman; sons: Charlie Ray Ward of Quitman and Randy Ward and wife, Nickie of Toomsuba; step-daughter, Liza Parrot of Athens, Texas; step-son, William Eugene McElhenney of Meridian; 13 grandchildren; three brothers: Charles "Red" Scruggs, Ray Scruggs, Bill Scruggs, all of Meridian; five sisters: Lois Harper of Kewanee, Kay Morvant of Russell, Jo Ann Walker of Meridian, Kathy Williams of Chunky, and Sue Scruggs of Meridian; and, special great-niece, Bit Bit, as well as many other nieces and nephews, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Russell Scruggs and Lois Rae Scruggs and brother, Mikhael Wayne Scruggs. Pallbearers will be Cole Thornton Barbree, Hubert Ward, Frank Briggs, William Briggs Jr., James Michael Stephens, and Timothy Wayne Moore. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family may sign the online guest book at www.robertbarhamffh.com.
