Julian Vaughan "Barney" Purvis, Sr. Services for Julian Vaughan "Barney" Purvis will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bob Rambo and Reverend Jimmy Harrison officiating. Burial will be in the Purvis Family Cemetery. Mr. Purvis, 80, of Meridian, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center, North. He was a member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Purvis worked as a cabinet builder with Jim McRae Building Company and Hometown Building Materials. His greatest accomplishment in life, however, was that of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man of impeccable morality and character. This is the legacy that he has passed on to all those left behind. Survivors include his daughters, Sabrina Williams and her husband Rick of Meridian, Suzette Landrum and her husband Steve of Meridian; son, Vaughan Purvis of Meridian; grandchildren, Michelle Mayfield and her husband Robert of Brookhaven, MS, Angela Keith and her husband Cyle , Lee Williams and his wife Melanie , Steven Landrum , Joshua Landrum, Caleb Landrum, Anna Landrum, Callie Purvis, and Trey Purvis all of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Will, Aubrye, and Miley Mayfield, Brett and Weston Keith, Hunter Williams; special extended family, Teresa Stokes, Chris Williams, Doris Mitchell, Sam and Carolyn Butchee and their families. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Wes Bennett and Dr. William Reid and their staff for their many years of care to Mr. Purvis. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Sue Carlton Purvis; parents, James L. and Pearl Purvis; sister, Ouida Still; and brother, Jimmy Purvis. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6-8 at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service.
