Funeral services for Ms. Junice M. Mitchell will begin at 12:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2019 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends John Branning and Time Wise officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Ms. Mitchell, 87, of Meridian passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at Anderson Regional Medical Center of Meridian.

Ms. Junice retired as an executive secretary at Weems Community Mental Health Center after over 27 years. She was the eldest of six girls, growing up in Meridian where she lived her entire life. Junice was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was active in The Williams Sunday School Class, where she often taught, Church Circle, the Sanctuary Choir, The Lunch Bunch, and the XYZ. She enjoyed her monthly lunch group with close friends. She also remained close to many high school classmates. Ms. Junice was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having her family at her table for holidays, birthdays, and all other events in life. She was referred to as Junice by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Junice was the most wonderful, loving, Christian, mother, grandmother, sister and friend anyone could ask for. Above all, she served God well, and is finally home.

Junice is survived by her children, Steven L. Moody; Michelle Moody Blood (John), Leigh Moody Barber, and Julie Mitchell Peden (Jeff). Grandchildren, Lurah Blood, Caitlin Blood, Morgan Barber, Meredith Barber Smyly (Brian), and Eli Mitchell Peden. Siblings, Carol Killam (Mark), Leslie Jenkins, and Faye Ethridge (Thomas) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Ms. Mitchell is preceded in death by her husband Winford Lawrence Moody; parents, Harvey and Elizabeth Jenkins; sisters, Jean Kinard, and Ann Wimberly Plowman.

The family suggests memorials be made as donations to Central United Methodist Church Choir in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Mitchell, Greg Mitchell, Jim Wall, Caleb Clay, Jared Overby, Tyler Richardson, and Brian Smyly.
