Katie Martharee Scruggs Services for Katie Martharee Scruggs will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverands, Jimmie Gerrard and Marvin Cooper officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Scruggs, 92, of the Whynot community, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in Meridian. Mrs. Scruggs was a lifelong resident of the Whynot Community. She loved the community, its residents, and the numerous family members she left behind. She was a long time member of Bethany Baptist Church in Whynot. Survivors include her grandson Donovan Scruggs, his wife, Julie, great granddaughter, Emma Grace, grandsons, Corey Martin and Kane Holloman, daughter-in-law, Becky Holloman (Mike), sisters-in-law Betty Jean Reynolds, and Delores Reynolds, special nieces, Hilda Faye Reynolds Davis and Linda Scruggs Lovett, numerous other beloved nieces and nephews, and her caregiver Kathy Staff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertle "B.W." Scruggs, two sons, Donald and Sammie Scruggs, two sisters, Clarice Maxwell and Ethel Flowers, and five brothers, Ray, James, J.W., Clyde, and Charles Reynolds. Pallbearers for Mrs. Scruggs will be Rick Davis, Ricky Roy Shirley, Larry Reynolds, Richard Harold Reynolds, Danny Maxwell, and Bill Maxwell. Larry Scruggs and Alan Buckalew will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family requests that memorials be made to the building fund or cemetery committee at Bethany Baptist Church.
