Kenneth E. McEntyre, Sr. Services for Kenneth E. McEntyre, Sr. will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 11:00 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Sikes officiating with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Mississippi State Veterans Cemetery in Newton, MS, at a later date. Mr. McEntyre, 85, of Meridian, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Ken retired from Atlas Roofing Mfg. Co. after 30 years. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Lane McEntyre of Meridian; daughter, Karen M. Freeman (Bill) of Newton; son, Kem McEntyre (Robin) of Meridian; grandchild, Molly McEntyre of Meridian; step-grandchildren, Tre' Freeman (Jan) of Meridian, Dana Habig (Brian) of Greenville, SC; six great-grandchildren; sister, Susan M. Galloway (DeWitt) of Apalachicola, FL; sister-in-law, Sybil Taylor of Dothan, AL; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy West and Frances Owens McEntyre; and brother, Captain Harry K. McEntyre, USN. Ken retired from Atlas Roofing Mfg. Company after 30 years. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service on the USS Drum and the USS Puffer. Ken will be remembered for one who never met a stranger. Through the years he enjoyed his association with friends in his Coffee Club, Investment Club, and Northwood. He was a longtime member of many civic and social organizations. Time spent with his family and friends at the beach was the ultimate getaway. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests memorials be made to the MS Military Family Relief Fund, att.
