A proud Navy veteran, Kent served his country with honor before embarking on a long career in the offshore oil production industry. He retired after years of dedicated work, known for being reliable, skilled, and loyal—a man whose handshake was as solid as any contract.
Kent had a heart as big as Mississippi and a smile that could brighten any room. His wit, humor, and charm endeared him to everyone he met. A true outdoorsman, Kent found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and checking off tasks on his never-ending to-do list. There was nothing he couldn’t fix. He was happiest when he was spending time with family.
Later in life, Kent resided at the VA Home in Kosciusko, MS, where he was cherished by those who knew him. He remained full of warmth and personality, always ready with a good story or a clever joke. A natural-born salesman, Kent was well-known for bringing back shrimp from the Gulf to sell to his loyal customers—just one of the many extra ways he worked to provide for his family.
Kent Bowen Sr. was a man of his word, a friend to many, a loving husband and father, and a steady presence in the lives of all who were blessed to know him. The world has truly lost a precious soul.
He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
