Services for Kermit L. Rasco will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church of Meridian with Dr. Carl White officiating. Burial will be in Lena Cemetery in Leake County Mississippi. Kermit L. Rasco 84, of Meridian, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at University Hospital in Jackson. He is the retired VP/Sales Manager Barrett Nunnery Wholesale Hardware Inc. Mr. Rasco is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clarice T. Rasco and daughter Charlotte A. Rasco of Meridian. In addition he is survived by a half-brother James Hampton Rasco of Yakoma, Washington, sisters-n-law: Jewel (Arlan) Pigg of Lena, Patricia Trest of Philadelphia, Carolyn Stewart of Carthage, Betty T. McDonald of Pearl and brother-n-law: Lewis M. (Sandy) Trest of Carthage. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by a special friend/brother Frank E. Grantham and his wife JoAnn of Meridian. Mr. Rasco was preceded in death by his son Billie Glenn Rasco, his mother Pauline McDonald Wells, father John Hampton Rasco and half-brother Jimmie Charles McDonald. After graduating High School from Lena High School, Mr. Rasco began his career in hardware working for L.L. James Hardware in Lena. He began working for Barrett Nunnery Hardware Wholesale, Inc. He worked in various positions and eventually became Sales Manager/Vice President. His career in hardware spanned over 50 years. Mr. Rasco has served in many organizations ranging from President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Meridian East Gideon Camp: President of the East Mississippi Diabetes Association; Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Personnel chairman at Highland Baptist Church. In addition he served as Chairman of Board and at Highland United Methodist Church as well as a Sunday School teacher and Lay Leader. He has also served a past president and state president of Travelers Protective Association. In 1980, he started his past time collecting and became a member of several train clubs.. He received his greatest pleasure showing off his prize collection of trains to young and old alike. He enjoyed going to train shows and trying to see how much he could dicker before having a final sale whether it was his or others he was trying to purchase.
