Lamar Mckenzie

Services celebrating the life of Mr. Lamar McKenzie will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with Bro. David Moore officiating and Mr. McKenzie’s close friend, R.T. Lowe, eulogizing. Service Music will be provided by Lisa Adkins, Johnny Miller, and friends. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. McKenzie, 68, of Meridian, died Saturday, December 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Lamar was a man of many talents. He was gifted musically and enjoyed singing and playing guitar; he enjoyed playing with his son, Michael, as “McKenzie,” as well as their friends. He enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and camping in his spare time. He was an avid angler enjoying bass fishing with friends and family. Lamar also enjoyed using his talents in woodworking, turning countless wooden bowls for family, friends, and clients; he was also a talented carpenter. He worked as Plant Manager of Peavey Electronics with a career spanning over 39 years.  Lamar’s pride and joy was his family and he always enjoyed spending time with them whenever he could, with his favorite title being Papaw.

Mr. Lamar is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy McKenzie; children, Crystal Bunyard, Megen Smith, and Michael McKenzie (Shelby); grandchildren, Kortney Pierce, Raven Bunyard, Christian Bunyard, Landon Rigdon, Braxtyn Rigdon, Nolan Rigdon, Garrett Smith, David Smith, Patrick Smith, Peyton McKenzie, Blake McKenzie, Emra McKenzie, and one on the way; Great-grandchildren, Avery Pierce, Charlotte Dearing, and Keeton Bunyard. His sister, Martha Ann Savell, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends; and his four-legged companion, Bella.

Mr. McKenzie is preceded in death by his parents, Clouis and Lois McKenzie; and his son, Scott Bunyard.
