Lance Haguewood Services for Benjamin Lance Haguewood will be held Monday, November 15, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tom Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Haguewood, 36, died November 8, 2010, at his residence in Sanford, North Carolina. Lance was employed with North American Rescue as Director of National Guard and Reserve Programs. Lance served his country in Bosnia, Afghanistan and twice in Iraq. He was beloved among the many soldiers who knew him. Lance was dedicated to being a medic, doing the right thing, making the right choices and serving his country with pride. Survivors include his wife Melissa Davis Haguewood, and his sons Aidan 2 years old and Connor nine months old of Sanford, North Carolina; his mother Judy Hudnall Thornton and Dan R. Thornton, III of Meridian; his father Billy R. Haguewood of Meridian; his sisters Jennifer Haguewood Hopkins of Orlando, Florida; Katie Haguewood Thames of Orlando, Florida and Jennifer Thornton of New Orleans, Louisana and a brother Clay Thornton and his wife Cara of Denver, Colorado; maternal grandparents Sam L. and Inez Hudnall of Meridian; paternal grandmother Barbara Ann Haguewood of Meridian; his nieces and nephews Keith Richard Hopkins of Orlando, Florida; Peyton Elizabeth Thames of Orlando, Florida and Augusta Hayes Thornton of Denver, Colorado; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Wilbur Haguewood. Pallbearers will be Wally Hudnall of Meridian; Jimmie Lee of Meridian; Keith Hopkins of Orlando, Florida; Michael Powell of Meridian; Jason Williams of Meridian; Norman Wilson of Meridian; Clay Thornton of Denver, Colorado; and Chris Druin of Eglin AFB. Lance was a wonderful friend; son, father and husband. Lance believed that his greatest accomplishment in life was being a father to his boy's Aidan and Connor. He loved helping others no matter what the issue was. Lance especially loved to travel to Ireland. No matter what he did in life, people were always drawn to him.
