Landis Culpepper Services for Landis Culpepper will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Church in the Martin community, with Brother Kenny Pogue and Brother Tommy Espey officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Culpepper, 79, a resident of the Martin Community went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, May 19, 2011. Mr. Culpepper loved his Lord and his family with all of his heart. He was an avid golfer and made his first and only "Hole in One" on May 15, 2009 at the age of 77. He loved spending time with his family and his "Domino Buddies". He was born June 2, 1931, to Obbie and Lorene Culpepper of Martin. Survivors include his wife Billie Culpepper; son Joe Howard and his girlfriend Terri, sons-in-law Kenny Pogue and Doug Benson; daughters Sherry Culpepper, Jeanna Mars, Carla Bonner, Jamie Pogue and Suzanne Benson; grandchildren Jay Maone, Beau Mixon and wife Alicia, Nicole Jenkins, Micky Howard and wife Berea, April McKnight and her boyfriend Korey Harris, Aaron Pogue and his wife Courtney, David Pogue, John Mark Benson and his wife Bethany, Lawrence Bonner and his wife Jessica, Jeremy Pogue and his wife Lauren, Laura Benson, Samuel Benson, Shum Benson, Curtis Benson, Spencer Benson; great grandchildren Kaden Neal, Alayna Mixon, Jesse Mixon, Gabe Howard, Jannet Mixon and Kennedy Pogue; sister Willie Mae Hodges, brothers Raymond Culpepper and his wife Leaverne, Rusty Culpepper and his wife Mackie, Arnold Culpepper and his wife Carolyn and Mike Culpepper and his wife Dianne; special sister-in-law Jo Ann Fears. He was preceded in death by his parents Obbie and Lorene Culpepper and his son Mickey Landis Culpepper. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Benevolence Fund at Anderson Regional Cancer Center. A very special thanks to Dr. Duggan and Gayle, Dr. Halbrook and Gwen, Dr. Gowdy and Leigh and to the Nurses and Staff of 4 East and 5 East at Anderson Regional Medical Center. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and granddaughters. Honorary pallbearers will be his Domino Buddies.
