Larry Barnett Graveside services will be held Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mississippi Veterans Cemetery in Newton, MS with Reverend Kyle Naylor and Reverend Tommy Espey officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Larry Barnett left his life of pain and suffering behind on February 18, 2015 to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior. Larry had many joys in life, his family, the Atlanta Braves, hunting, and spending his days with his best pal, Sam. He overcame many obstacles and illnesses throughout his lifetime but he most always maintained a good outlook. He was always happy for the almost 18 "extra" years that God gave him to spend with his family but most of all to meet and be able to spend time with his pride and joy, Madison. Larry always knew time was precious and lived to make others laugh. His favorite saying was "You will know I'm mad at you, if I don't pick with you". Larry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, he had several honors bestowed upon him. Upon returning from serving his country, Larry was introduced to his future wife, Ann, who cared for him selflessly during all of his multiple illnesses. Larry leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Ann Culpepper Barnett; daughter, Angela Gamber (Shawn); granddaughter, Madison Benson, all of Collinsville; as well as Sam, his miniature Chihuahua and companion; brothers, Pete Barnett (Sherrill) of Meridian and Billy Barnett (Lori) of Arab, AL; sisters, Shirley May of Hickory and Sandra White of Meridian; mother-in-law, Evelyn Culpepper of Collinsville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Debbie Culpepper of Collinsville; aunt, Martha Jewel Robertson; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Gracie Wade Barnett and father-in-law, Max Culpepper. The family would like to thank Dr. Fred Duggan, Dr. Wesley Bennett, Dr. John Halbrook, Dr. Ruba Barakat and Dr. Todd Clayton and their staffs for the excellent care he received over the years. Thank you to all the staff of Anderson's Telemetry floor for all the smiles, patience, and superb care provided during his recent stay. Also, a special thanks to Marilyn Roberts, RN for the wonderful care you gave him for several years and for being a vessel that God used to allow us to enjoy him 18 more years.
