Laureen Clara (Daley) Harper A Funeral Mass for Laureen Clara (Daley ) Harper will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Meridian, Mississippi at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011, with Father Frank Cosgrove officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery on Highway 39 North with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Harper, 85, passed away peacefully Monday, September 5, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born on May 8, 1926, in Bassfield, Mississippi to Catherine and Charles Daley. She grew up in Bassfield and was the youngest of thirteen children. After her graduation from Bassfield High School, she moved to Jackson, Mississippi and worked for the General Electric Company. On September 30, 1950, she married William Anthony Harper who was serving in the United States Navy and began her life as a Navy wife making a comfortable home for her family during Bill's thirty years of active duty. Mrs. Harper was a loving and supportive mother of five children. She enjoyed living with her family in New Orleans, Louisiana, Norfolk, Virginia, San Antonio, Texas and Montgomery, Alabama before Bill's retirement at his last duty station in Meridian, Mississippi. She was a devout Catholic and always had a special reverence for the Rosary. She was a cherished wife of sixty one years, beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, William A. Harper of Meridian and five children and their spouses Diane and William Haner of New Orleans, Louisiana, Belinda and Edward Dopheide(deceased) of Dallas, Texas, Patricia and Robert Westendorf of Meridian, William and Carla Harper of Meridian, Mississippi, Deborah and Stan Coleman of Sturgis, Mississippi; her brother Nick Daley of Revere, MA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Edward Daley, Norbert Daley, Adrian Daley, Anastasia Hanegan, Loretta Howard, Lily Prentiss, Lucy Hanegan, Lizzie Delancy, Agnes Skinner, Patrick Daley and Charles Daley.
