Mrs. Lee Esther (Ables) Williams Graveside services for Lee Esther (Ables) Williams will be held Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Glen Hall officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Lee Esther (Ables) Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Elias (Lucinda) Ables, passed on January 7, 2015, in Silver Spring, Maryland. A graduate of Jackson State College (now University), she was an elementary school classroom teacher for forty-three years, primarily at the West End Elementary School in Meridian. During her lifetime, she was very active in, and held many offices with, the Eighth Avenue Church of God in Meridian. She organized the first Vacation Bible School, was instrumental in efforts to erect a new sanctuary, taught several Sunday School classes for many years, and was elected an Elder. In 2004, her sister Essie Cunningham and she relocated to a senior community in Maryland to be near their niece. Married to the late Professor E. L. Williams, she is survived by two nephews, O.C. (Aurelia) Hickman of Palmdale, CA, and Charles (Barbara) Hickman of Long Beach, CA; one niece, Jean Currie Church of Washington, DC; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.
