Leonard E Bennett

Services for Mr. Leonard E. Bennett will begin at 12:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Hebron Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Bennett, 93, of Hernando, formerly of Meridian, died Friday, September 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Leonard retired as a Contract Supervisor from Bell South after a career spanning over 30 years. In his retirement, he was co-owner, with his wife, of A Small World Day Care, where he and Barbara enjoyed caring for many children, who lovingly referred to him as “Papa.” He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working outdoors. He was an active member and Deacon at Hebron Baptist Church for many years, where he faithfully attended.

Mr. Bennett was blessed with four children, Karen Moore, Buddy Bennett (Cindy), Amy Bowles (Jim), and Cathy Castleberry (David); twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Sue Harris “Babe”, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Leonard is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Peterson Bennett; his parents, Raymond and Ruby Bennett; His sons-in-law, Larry Moore and Randy Russell, M.D.; his grandchildren, Caleb Bennett and Melanie Branch; and his brother, Harold Bennett.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Bennett’s Grandsons.

The Bennett Family suggests memorials be made as donations to The Baptist Children’s Village in lieu of flowers.
