Funeral services for Mr. Leonard O. Pogue will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home chapel with the Reverends Michael Pogue and Mike Boles officiating. A private family interment will be held at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Mr. Pogue, 94, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Bedford Care Center in Marion.

Leonard was a dedicated Christian, always serving wherever he was needed. He answered the call of servant leadership as an ordained Deacon at Midway Baptist Church and raised his family to follow Jesus in their lives as well. He loved to travel with his wife, Sylvia, and enjoyed camping at Bluegrass Festivals and gardening. He was known for growing sugar cane and making syrup. He retired as a testing technician with a career spanning over 25 years at James River Paper Mill. He loved his family and providing for them; he was a passionate husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Leonard is survived by his children, Debbie Boles (Mike), Glenn Pogue (Melissa), Kenny Pogue (Jamie), and Tim Pogue (Leigh). Grandchildren Jonathan Boles (Kylie) and Daniel Boles (Julie); Jessica Bonner (Andrew), Michael Pogue (April), Aubrey Pogue (Carolyn), and Emily Ruedas (Jose); Aaron Pogue (Courtney), David Pogue (Ashley), and Jeremy Pogue (Lauren); Tyler Pogue (Elise), Nick Pogue (Holli), and Meagan Adair (Adam); 31 great-grandchildren and two on the way, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Mr. Pogue is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Sylvia Pogue; his parents Frank and Thellis Pogue; siblings, Clarice Davis, Margaret Watkins, Joe Pogue, Jack Pogue, and Mack Pogue.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
