Leslie Ann "Nana" Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Leslie Ann “Nana” Wright Smith will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Brother Andrew Black and Brother Lamar Lifer officiating. Burial will be held at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mrs. Smith, age 74, of Toomsuba passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, where she taught the Preschool Sunday school class and served in the kitchen. Prior to retiring, she worked for Anderson Hospital’s pharmacy and Breast Care Clinic. After retiring, she owned and operated Nana’s Daycare. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, “nana,” sister, caretaker, and friend.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years, James Howard “Paw” Smith; children, Tammy Smith of Puntagorda, Florida, Melodie (Charles) Black of Toomsuba, Mississippi, and Wendy (David) Martin of Thomasville, Alabama; grandchildren, Cassidy (Griffin) Phillips, Andrew (Rachel) Black, Camden Martin, and Blair Black (Trevor Shirley); great grandchild, Koah Phillips; siblings, Jerry (Judy) Wright and Brenda (Franklin) McLelland; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many children she kept throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Ann Wright; one brother, Al Wright; and Jesse Harwell Wright.

The family requests memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church’s Youth Fund.
