Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Janice Powell will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the chapel. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Lillie Janice Powell, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Meridian, Mississippi on Friday, December 19, 2025 at age 91.

Mrs. Powell was born in Lauderdale County on June 12, 1934. She married Mr. Freeman Powell on April 28, 1952 and they enjoyed over 68 years of marriage. She was a part of the church families at Pleasant Ridge UMC and Antioch Southern Methodist Church.

Janice drove a school bus for Lauderdale County and worked at the flower shop with Bennie Harrison and at Martin Grocery with Brenda McKeithen to help provide for her family until her children graduated from high school and beyond.

Mrs. Powell loved to decorate her home and often helped her children with interior decorations. An extremely quick witted lady, Janice was jovial and enjoyed joking with those she loved and admired.

Janice is survived by her youngest daughter, Carla Powell Snider (Heath); her granddaughter, Kelsey Frady Malone (Pat); her grandsons, River Keaton and Cody Powell (Kelli); her great-grandchildren, Colt and Keesler Powell; her siblings, Frank McMullan and Roy Hollingsworth, Jr.; her first cousin, Gloria Davis; a niece, Mitzi Ethridge South; and her beloved neighbors, Archie and Kathy Scarbrough.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Powell; her father, Ernest “Skimp” McMullan; her mother, Lillian McMullan; and her siblings, Ernestine Ethridge and Joe Messer.

Pallbearers will be Cody Powell, Brandon Crenshaw, Mitchell Ethridge, and Heath Snider.
