A family graveside service will be held at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery in Kemper County, Mississippi, with Reverend CJ Caufield officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. Due to the pandemic, the family is not listing the day and time of service.
Linda Eldridge, 78, of DeKalb, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at Neshoba County Nursing Home in Philadelphia, Mississippi.
Survivors include her children, Tim Eldridge of Little Rock, Arkansas; Angel Peranich (Steve) of Pace, Florida; and Cindy Eldridge (Dave Scott) of Gulfport, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Gregory Peranich, Zachary Peranich, Preston Peranich, and Taylor Hodges; sisters, Sue Scott of Florence, Mississippi; Lisa Massey of DeKalb, Mississippi; and brother John Paul Darnell (Georgia) of Collinsville, Mississippi; five nieces and one nephew; and special friend Wendell Hagan.
Ms. Eldridge was predeceased by her father, John Thomas Darnell, her mother, Eloise Darnell, and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Scott and Keith Massey.
Ms. Eldridge graduated from DeKalb High School in DeKalb, Mississippi, in 1958 and East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, Mississippi, in 1960 with an Associate’s Degree through the Accelerated Business Program. She worked at various bookkeeping and purchasing agent jobs in DeKalb, Meridian and Jackson, Mississippi, before moving to Pace, Florida in 2000 to work at Bell Steel Company from which she retired in 2006.
After retirement, Ms. Eldridge returned to her home outside of DeKalb, Mississippi, where she enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes with her lady friends, and visiting with friends, family, and church members. She was a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church outside of Collinsville, Mississippi.
Ms. Eldridge loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play various sports. She also loved going to local football, basketball and soccer games to watch her nieces, nephew and other local kids. She was a frequent guest at Eldridge Family Reunions at Kemper Lake in DeKalb, Mississippi, and always carried at least two of her famous Lemon Ice Box pies when she went.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Alzheimer’s Association ( www.alz.org ) or to Hopewell United Methodist Church, 9642 HWY 495 S, DeKalb, MS 39328.
