Lisa Kay Akin, age 59, of Meridian, MS, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Lisa was a graduate of Meridian High School and The University of Mississippi. In her younger years she worked for L.A. Gear then she went to work with her mother Dorothy in the insurance industry.

She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Her nieces remember her catchphrases and still use them today. Although she wasn't rich by the world's standards, she would give you the shirt off her back according to her nieces. Lisa also had special way with children. Lisa loved to be in the kitchen cooking for her family, especially during the holiday season.

She adored her pets and especially her cats in her later years.

She is survived by her sister, Susan Akin-Lynch; nieces, Casey Akin, Mindy Barry, Alexandria Taylor, and Alana Akin Camp; nephews, Nathan Barry, and Preston Lynch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl B. Akin, Sr and Dorothy Akin-Little; her siblings Earl Akin, Jr, Alan Akin and Janet Lee Akin; stepfather, Harry Little, and grandparents, Barbara and Rudolph Parkerson and Bernard and Pearl Akin.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Robert Barham Family Funeral Home to help cover Lisa's funeral expenses.
